5月1日，南開大學發布情況說明：
針對近日網絡上對我校教師陳某發表的相關論文數據存疑的反映，學校高度重視，第一時間成立調查組，啟動調查程序。
學校對違背科研誠信行為堅持“零容忍”，堅決抵制學術不端行為，將根據調查情況嚴肅認真處理。感謝社會各界的關心與監督。
Nankai University has launched an investigation following public allegations of data manipulation in papers published by a faculty member.
In a statement released on Friday, the university said it had set up a task force to look into concerns raised online about research papers by Chen Quan, dean of the College of Life Sciences.
"The university has zero tolerance for any violation of research integrity and firmly opposes academic misconduct. The matter will be handled seriously based on the findings of the investigation," the statement read. Nankai also thanked the public for its attention and oversight.
近日，有教育科普博主實名舉報，南開大學生命科學學院院長陳佺的主頁列出的Nature子刊論文涉嫌嚴重學術造假，且浪費國家大量科研經費。
The allegations were first made by a science education blogger, who accused Chen of serious academic fraud in a Nature sub-journal paper listed on his profile. The blogger also claimed the research involved wasteful spending of substantial state research funds.
